Its main goal is to reduce the amount of toxic materials that end up in landfills and the environment through the disposal of electronic waste. Toxic substances that may be contained in devices can be released into the soil, water, and air after the products are disposed of. This leads to environmental pollution as well as possible serious human illness.

Why is RoHS important?

Like a filter that filters out harmful elements, RoHS restricts the use of toxic substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and certain types of phthalates. 4. Hexavalent chromium (Chromium VI, Cr6+): used for coatings and corrosion prevention.
5. Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs): used as flame retardants in plastics and textiles.
6. Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB): also used as flame retardants.
