Declaration (CE)

DECLARATION OF CONFORMITY (CE): YOUR PASSPORT TO THE EUROPEAN MARKET

What is a Declaration of Conformity?

You want to send your equipment to the new, promising market of the European Union. How do you make sure that your product meets all the requirements and standards? This is where the Declaration of Conformity comes to the fore.

This is an official document that confirms that your equipment complies with the necessary EU directives – about 20 directives, each of which can be 100 to 150 pages long and regulates certain types of products. They define the requirements for safety, quality, environmental standards, and other aspects. It’s like a passport for your product, without which it will not be able to “travel” to European markets.

It is important to note that electrical equipment for export to the EU must also comply with specific European directives, such as the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) and the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC).

Why is the Declaration of Conformity so important?

Without this “passport”, your product will not be able to cross the EU border. The European Union very carefully controls the quality and safety of imported products, and the Declaration of Conformity is a kind of guarantee that your equipment meets all the requirements (based on the verification of standards). And you declare this compliance. Without this document, your products will not be able to pass customs control and enter new markets.

WHAT DOES A DECLARATION OF CONFORMITY INCLUDE?

A declaration of conformity is not just a paper document or an A4 sheet, but a whole range of information (on average, about 200 pages):

  • Detailed product description:

    models, serial numbers, specifications

  • Information about the manufacturer and exporter:

    legal address, contacts, company name

  • List of EU directives:

    that the product complies with

  • Technical file:

a set of documents that confirm compliance with the directives. This may include drawings, diagrams, test results, and calculations

  • Test reports:

detailed reports on how products were tested and what results were obtained

  • Assembly:

includes certified components and assemblies that are not required to be retested

  • CE marking:

confirmation that the product meets all EU requirements (in particular, a CE label attached to the equipment)

According to statistics, 70% of exporters face difficulties when preparing a Declaration of Conformity for the first time!

What is a declaration of conformity for?

A declaration of conformity is a mandatory document for all manufacturers who wish to export their products to the European Union. Without it, your product will simply not be able to enter the market. It protects the interests of the manufacturer and allows you to avoid problems in the event of any inspections. It is important to understand that, although the declaration has no expiration date, the manufacturer is responsible for the compliance of the product with the technical requirements throughout its entire service life!
